2010 Dad's Day 5K Race Was a Great Success.
Thanks to our 2010 Race Participants, Sponsors and Volunteers

JOIN US NEXT YEAR FOR THE 12TH DAD'S DAY 5K RACE

Race Course - Start at Prairie at Smith, Finish on Prairie under the Wortham Arch. The course is on flat concrete city streets, USAT&F sanctioned and certified. To satisfy insurance requirements, no skates, roller blades, strollers, bikes or animals are permitted on the course for the 5K run participants safety.

Competitive Chip Timing - Run timing for competitive 5K runners will be done using “D-tag” disposable strips. The D-tags, as well as instructions on their use, will be distributed with each competitive 5K runners’ bib, at Packet Pick-Up or on Race Day.

3K Family Walk and Kid's 1K
Not a competitive runner? Show your support in the fight against prostate cancer by joining the 3K Family Walk.* You can also run with your child in the Kid's 1K (12 and under), where every kid finishing receives a medal. * strollers and wheelchairs welcome

Registration
Online Registration is closed. Please make a note to join us next year at the 12th Dad's Day Run.

Packet Pick-Up
Race packets (race number, t-shirt, D-tag, race informations may be picked up prior to the race on:

  • Saturday, June 12 and Friday, June 18 at the New Balance Store, 1800 Post Oak Blvd., 11am-6pm, or
  • Thursday, June 17 at the Randalls Mid-town (balcony area), Louisiana and Hadley, 11am-6pm
  • or on Race Day, Saturday, June 19, 6:30-7:30 am, under the Wortham Arch.

Registrations will also be accepted at all Packet Pick-Up times and locations.

Awards:
5K Timed Run: (Chip Time)
Trophies to the following winners:
Top male and female overall
1st place male and female Master (40 - 54)
1st place male and female Senior (55+)
Top 3 prostate cancer survivors
Commerative Medals to the following winners:
1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each age group.
14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and over. No duplicate awards given.

Kids 1K: All kids (12 and under) who finish will WIN a commemorative medal. Trophies for the top 3 kids.


Door Prizes: All finishers will automatically be entered to win one of several fantastic door prizes (including airline tickets), given out during the awards ceremony. (Must be present to win)

 

Team Events
Competition by teams, either walking or running , is encouraged. Click here to view Team Guidelines. Teams can participant in the following categories:

  • Non-Competitive Team -Open teams for the 3K and 5K, with no limit to the number of participants, forming the largest team.
  • Competitive Team - Unlimited number of co-ed runners, each running 5K, with the summed score of the five best finishers in any combination of age groups/gender determining place.

Awards will be given to the top three teams in each category and will be mailed to the Team Captain.   Additional instructions will be available at packet pick-up.

Post Race Activities-It's About Families!
Lots of Fun, Food, and Music ! Door Prizes – along with the presentation of awards and door prize drawings. Texas Street side of the Wortham Center.

Donations-Making a Different
Please donate to our cause to run prostate cancer out-of-town. Donations are used to outreach in Houston, including active participation in corporate and community health fairs, plus funding groups offering check-ups to men in under-served areas of Houston. Medical Aid -
Medical aid facilities will be available. Remember to drink plenty of fluids before and during the race. Water Stations will be along the course. We take reasonable precautions in planning a safe event. Participation is at your own risk.

Photos
One family photo will be provided at no charge. Cox Sports
Photography will be photographing runners along the course. Their photos will be on display for purchase at www.coxsportsphotos.com by Wednesday, June 23.

Free Health Screening
Free family health screening, including PSA for men 40 and older, will be offered by Christus Community Health Ministries. Their mobile health unit will be located on Smith Street, near the finish line.

Location and Parking
The race location at Wortham Center is downtown, 501 Prairie, 77002, at Smith, close to the Downtown Aquarium. Parking space is abundant on city streets and nearby lots, but is not free.
